Bordeaux granite from Brazil gives your countertops a complex look with veins of brown, white and gray. Even from a distance, the unique pattern is evident with a look that is far from uniform. The stone almost looks like the view of a mountain range as you fly over it, with a bedrock of light cream and veins of varying colors.

Be sure to take the flow of the veining into consideration when laying out your granite countertops. You want the slabs of granite to “flow” into each other. Although the granite matches well with almost any cabinet color, it works best with cherry or cream as these colors bring out the tones of the stone. Add pewter or brushed nickel accents as they bring out the veining as well. Bold colors on the walls also compliment the granite, so lean toward burgundy or dark red. If you are not a fan of bold colors, cream, gray and mint green are also options. Choose an Ogee edge as it will create a wavy look and emphasize the patterning.
